Color is evolving and changing with every passing year. The 2025 Color of the Year was announced by Pantone Color Institute: Mocha Mousse. It’s always fun to see how it is being incorporated and expressed in the design world. We are pulling inspiration from this new hue and embracing the brown.
Meet Mocha Mousse
Although this may seem like it doesn't need an introduction, it’s quite the opposite. This color has been described as “sophisticated and earthy.” The warm tones remind us of the simple pleasures in life like a fresh cup of coffee or a bite of rich chocolate. It reminds us to slow down and find comfort in doing so.
What Does This Mean in Home Design?
There is always a direct connection between the visual arts like fashion and art to home design. The concept is, after all, making an inviting and visually appealing space you love to come home to. The design world relied heavily on more gray tones in the past decade. Slowly more brown was introduced to have what is referred to as “greige.” It is a combination of gray and brown giving it a warm and cool feeling. Now, things have really heated up and shifted toward the brown family. With the announcement of Mocha Mousse being the Color of the Year 2025, brown is officially back!
