5 Stunning Ways to Enhance Room Design
Do you have any interior projects on your mind? Creating the ideal room design can be exciting and challenging all at once! That's where inspiration comes into play. When you get ideas and see inspiring ideas, it begins to stir, putting ideas into motion. Do you know that you only need ONE item per room to really make it shine? We've got 5 elements of your home that will instantly upgrade the look and feel of the space.

Create a Feature Wall.

This is one of our favorite home decor upgrades. There are a number of options for materials, from board and batten to shiplap. Textures, lines or unique shapes...all of these elements can work to display the look you love. Not sure which wall to choose? We always suggest the wall that you face when you enter the room–it's the first focal point you see, and it creates an instant backdrop of style.

Style the Windows.

Speaking of a stunning backdrop, the windows of your home add a dynamic look–especially when you have custom window treatments. The fabrics, the finishes, the textures...all of these design elements will enhance the room in an instant. Not only do they create appealing style, but window coverings offer solutions–to light control, privacy, and UV protection. Our collection of Hunter Douglas Banded Shades is just one example of the dramatic look you can bring into your room design.

Use the Fifth Wall.

More commonly referred to as the ceiling, the "fifth wall" as some designers like to call it, is a blank canvas, just waiting for you to enhance! Because it can be often ignored, adding elements to it is a sudden style moment that no one saw coming! Wood beams, coffered patterning, paneling, wallpaper or paint...all of these choices can create a specialty look. With paint, instead of the basic white that is commonly used, try "color drenching," which uses the same color on the walls, the ceiling and the trim.

Light It Up.

It probably comes as no surprise that adding lights to a space can change the ambiance. How important are they, though? One beautiful chandelier, or a collection of pendants, can create the mood of the space and tie in the finishing touches. To add further usage to small areas of the room, consider wall scones or floor lamps. These elements allow for quiet spaces that exude a softness for a cozy night in.

Add Storage, But Make It Pretty.

Is there anything better in home design when a look is stylish, but it also adds function to your life? Enter the "built in" concept. We've seen these everywhere, from mudrooms and living rooms, to home offices and dens. Typically, there will be shelving to display collections, combined with cabinetry that allows you to put things behind closed doors.

Color is evolving and changing with every passing year. The 2025 Color of the Year was announced by Pantone Color Institute : Mocha Mousse. It’s always fun to see how it is being incorporated and expressed in the design world. We are pulling inspiration from this new hue and embracing the brown. Meet Mocha Mousse Although this may seem like it doesn't need an introduction, it’s quite the opposite. This color has been described as “sophisticated and earthy.” The warm tones remind us of the simple pleasures in life like a fresh cup of coffee or a bite of rich chocolate. It reminds us to slow down and find comfort in doing so.
